The governing board consists of nominees who are experts in
various fields, from Reserve Bank of India, Ministry of Finance of Government
of India, representatives of public sector banks, insurance, and academic
institutions. The matters related to policy and affairs are vested in the
governing board. IBPS has a team of experts from the areas of Psychology,
Psychometrics, Educational Measurement, Information Technology and Human
Resource Research and Studies.
It is known for its role in testing candidates applying
for varied posts in Government Banks. It conducts common online exam to huge
masses at once, throughout India in over 200 cities. It extended its services
beyond banking and provides the human resource to insurance, state and Central
Government departments and public sector units, private corporations and
academic institutions.

Over one crore graduates took the exam in the year
2013-2014; that should be no surprise in a country like ours, where tens of
lack of graduates come into the market every year. Coming to bank exams, the
Common Written Evaluation (CWE) conducted by IBPS is a must for anyone who
wants to take up a job in any public sector and Regional Rural Banks in posts
varying from the clerk, probationary officer, and management trainee. The
applications are invited from the eligible candidates on its website and the
exams are organized through online mode at various locations all over India.
According to official statistics from the IBPS website, in the last three
years, the maximum applications have been received for the IBPS – CWE (PSBs).
These account to a massive 1,22,18,733 applications. The second position is
again firmly held by public sector banks with another 99,53,863 applications.
These numbers clearly indicate the importance of the IBPS recruitment exams and
their popularity among the applicants. The eligibility criteria is a university
degree, thus making it an option for all the graduates in the country.

There is
an age condition too and also relaxations are provided for some special
categories which we will discuss in detail in the course of this post. There is
a special eligibility criterion for candidates applying to specialist cadres,
they must have a professional degree in law, accounts, agriculture and more. A
certificate of knowledge in operation of computers is mandatory for candidates
applying to posts other than specialists posts. Here is a short and brief
